In 2023, the charity foundation Women’s Aid International started the implementation of the “School of Social Worker” project with the support of the US Embassy.
The program is designed to provide a new profession to forced migrants who want to work in the field of social support. During training, participants acquire the necessary knowledge to work with the elderly, people with disabilities, and war victims.
The task of the training program is to teach the basics of caring for people who belong to vulnerable groups and to offer students further employment.
A total of 100 forced migrants who dared to change professions and start activities in a completely new field for them will take part in the project “School of Social Worker”.
The curriculum includes the following units:
• Basics of social work
• Ethical principles of social work
• Psychological aspects of old age
• Physiological changes in the body in old age
• Common diseases in old age
• Basics of care for bedridden and immobile people
• Peculiarities of communication with the elderly
• Resolving conflict situations in the process of communication
• Building successful communication
• Prevention of emotional burnout: how to protect yourself
• Stress resistance
Unfortunately, because of the war, more and more people support more support, so the project “School of Social Worker” is planned to be expanded in the future. In this way, it will be possible to improve the sphere of social support in Ukraine and it will be easier to combine clients and social workers.
