The Women’s Aid International charity fund, together with the Polish Center for International Aid (PCPM) and the Care organization, gave warm winter blankets to forced migrants from Kyiv.
Electric blankets are an extremely necessary thing for forced migrants who came to Kyiv from temporarily occupied territories or from front-line settlements. People were fleeing from the occupiers and shelling and did not have the opportunity to take many things with them. Electric sheets are especially useful for elderly people who are very cold due to the low temperature in their apartments. This year, all of Ukraine uses energy resources sparingly, and therefore the temperature in the house can very often be quite low.
We made the decision regarding the purchase and delivery of electric blankets even before the massive Russian attacks on the infrastructure of Ukraine. Nevertheless, power outages most often fall precisely during the peak hours of consumption – from morning to evening. At night, when everyone goes to sleep, the electricity is turned on. And therefore, it will be possible to warm up while sleeping.
330 forcibly displaced persons received electric sheets.
Assistance could be received by one internally displaced person who:
– arrived in Kyiv from the south (Kherson, Odesa, Mykolaiv oblasts, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol) or the east (Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Luhansk oblasts) of Ukraine in the period June – August 2022;
– registered in the Dnipro or Darnytsya district of Kyiv;
– has an income below UAH 5,000 per month;
– lives in rented housing;
– such a family includes at least 2 people, including: an unemployed woman with a minor child or minor children OR a person of retirement age, older than 65 years.
We would like to thank the Polish Center for International Aid (PCPM) and the Care organization for their support.
